Leslie believed in the potential of every young person he coached or taught, and that belief continues to guide this initiative. Through scholarships, community involvement, and the support of those who knew and loved him, we carry his spirit forward and invest in futures that reflect his values.
About Coach Broadhurst
November 11, 1958 — October 28, 2024
Leslie Broadhurst dedicated his life to shaping the lives of young people through education, mentorship, and the game of basketball. For 36 years, he served as the head basketball coach at Randall High School, earning 701 victories and leading the Raiders to back-to-back state tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024. But his impact went far beyond the court.
Coach Broadhurst built his program on relationships, instilling discipline, leadership, and heart into every student he coached. Known for his “amoeba” defense and even stronger character, he was admired not just for wins but for the way he made people feel—respected, valued, and encouraged.
He was a mentor to fellow coaches, a father figure to players, and a cherished friend in the Canyon ISD community. His positive outlook and humble spirit were constants, even through his battle with a brain tumor that took his life at age 65. In 2024, Randall High School renamed its gymnasium in his honor—a lasting symbol of his dedication and legacy.
To know Coach Broadhurst was to learn what it meant to lead with love, integrity, and purpose. His influence lives on in the lives he touched, the students he inspired, and the Raider pride he carried every single day.
